The Beginning of Pilot Season

its early january and the fun is just about to start. and by fun i mean the evil emotional roller-coaster that you are strapped on to and have no control over at all...YAY!!!! it's pilot season!!!! pilot season is the first 3 or so months of the year during which almost all the new shows for every network is cast. what that means for us actors is that we have to read a script most likely every single night, memorize lines, make choices for our character and put it all out there hoping to get a job. this is what all auditioning is, but the problem with pilot season is there is no break. it's constant. day in and day out, and the most control you've got as an actor is basically whatever control you think crossing your fingers might give you. basically its awesome. really, really, really awesome. here i am in the waiting room for a show that i actually really liked and think has some real potential. the casting office called me in for 3 separate characters. i chemistry read with the guys that were cast for 2 of them and this is on the day of my FIFTH, count them FIFTH time in for this show
this is about 15 minutes in..

.
this is the same waiting room an hour and 15 minutes in...

now as you can see, there are all kinds of beautiful, skinny girls around you at all times. it never seizes to amaze me just how many of them there are. i've been doing this for 10 years and i'd say that you get used to the same probably 50 faces or so...but this day i saw a few new ones. i can't really tell you what sitting in a quiet room for an hour and 45 minutes does to you, but maybe this will help...

keep your fingers crossed. i should hear about it soon.

PS, there was a name actress that went in right after me for a GUEST STAR...unbelievable. i sometimes feel its more likely to get electrocuted by a fallen cable line while driving in your car than it is to get a pilot. oh wait that happened to me (while driving from an audition to a meeting with a director for a movie, neither of which i booked).
